Pender Long Term Recovery Group to Host 2026 Disaster Preparedness Expo

The Pender Long Term Recovery Group (Pender LTRG) will once again host its Annual Disaster Preparedness Expo, bringing together community partners, emergency response agencies, and local organizations to help residents prepare for the upcoming hurricane season.

As the 2026 Atlantic Hurricane Season approaches, the Pender LTRG is encouraging residents across the county to take proactive steps to protect their families, homes, and businesses. The Disaster Preparedness Expo is designed to provide valuable information, resources, and tools to strengthen community resilience before a storm even forms.

The 2026 Disaster Preparedness Expo will take place:

Saturday, June 6, 2026
10:00 AM – 12:00 PM
Burgaw Middle School Gymnasium
500 S. Wright Street
Burgaw, NC 28425

This free community event will feature a variety of local and regional partners who will provide hurricane preparedness information, educational materials, and demonstrations on how to prepare for emergencies and natural disasters.

Attendees will have the opportunity to:

  • Learn how to build a disaster supply kit

  • Receive information on hurricane preparedness and evacuation planning

  • Connect with local emergency management agencies and community organizations

  • Discover resources available to residents before, during, and after a disaster

  • Pick up preparedness materials and educational literature

The Pender LTRG encourages all residents to remember the importance of preparation and to follow the group’s preparedness message:

“Be Prepared. Make a Plan. Stay Connected.”

Community participation and preparedness are essential to reducing the impact of hurricanes and other disasters in coastal North Carolina.

The Pender Long-Term Recovery Group comprises nonprofit organizations, faith-based groups, charitable partners, and community organizations that work together to assist residents affected by disasters. The group collaborates with local, regional, and state partners to assess needs, provide resources, and help ensure that individuals and families receive support as they recover and rebuild.

Through coordination, volunteer engagement, and community partnerships, the Pender LTRG helps address unmet needs following disasters, providing critical support to Pender County residents during their recovery journey.

Community organizations, agencies, and vendors interested in participating in the 2026 Disaster Preparedness Expo are encouraged to get involved.
